Heather Jacobsen, @hkjacobsen, writes memoir, poetry, and nonfiction. Her poetry has been featured on PBSNewsHour Online, Headline Poetry & Press, and Medium, and her book Going Gluten-Free: 7 Surprising Facts You Should Know if You Want to Achieve Dietary Success, was a Book of Note on the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics’ Food & Nutrition magazine. She plans to have her full-manuscript memoir complete before the June 2020 #pitmad pitch party on Twitter.
Heather has a Master’s in Science from the University of Kent in Canterbury (UK) and a BA from the University of Virginia. She has been a Research Associate for the National Academy of Sciences where her research and writing led to reports that advised Congress.
Heather has given a TEDx talk on nutrition, and written research articles about the gluten-free and paleo diet for the online magazine, Stuffed Pepper. She founded the Central Shoreline Writer’s Group and led it in 2019. She also founded the Facebook group, Natural Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Treatment (NEAT), which she still currently administers. She was also once ordained as a Buddhist nun.
Heather lives with her husband, two children and three cats in Connecticut.
